| Coastal forests, Kameroen | WNF | Het berg- en laaglandbos aan de zuidwestkust van Kameroen wordt afgewisseld door meren, warmwaterbronnen en watervallen en bewoond door onder andere bosolifanten, gorilla's en chimpansees. Door de oprukkende houtkap, palmolie en bananenindustrie wordt het gebied ook steeds toegankelijker voor stropers. WWF komt in actie om de natuurlijke rijkdom van de voor de bevolking mythische bosgebieden te behouden voor de toekomst. |
| Linking Futures Campo-Ma’an Kameroen | WNF | Het gebied Campo-Ma’an kent een rijke biodiversiteit. Er komen vele bedreigde diersoorten voor zoals de gorilla, chimpansee, olifant, waterschildpad en de Afrikaanse zeekoe. Daarnaast zijn er ruim 1500 plantensoorten te vinden, waarvan 45 inheemse soorten. De natuurlijk watervallen en ongerepte stranden bieden uitstekende mogelijkheden voor ecotoerisme. In totaal zijn er zeven inheemse etnische groepen waaronder de Bakola-pygmeeën, een stam die het langst gebruik maakt van de natuurlijke hulpbronnen in het bos. |
